Public House. C17 and later. Timber frame mainly replaced with brick. Pantile roofs. Lobby Entrance type farmhouse with an early C19 addition replacing the eastern section. Brick facing of timber frame contemporary with addition. 2 storeys. Irregular fenestration to original part with doorway, beneath skew- back arch opposite stack and a 2-light casement window above: C19 4-light mullion window beneath skewback arch at ground floor with a modern 3-light casement above. Dentil cornices. Steeply pitched roof and massive axial stack with 4 rebuilt octagonal shafts on original moulded brick bases. Addition with a symmetrical 3-bay facade with central doorway. 4 (formerly 5) 3-light hollow chamfered mullion windows with transoms at ground floor level. Hipped roof. Various later additions to side and rear. Interior. Ogee moulded bridging joists with exceptionally elaborate stops. Chamfered common joists with barred stops. Former staircase to entrance side of stack. Reputed historical association with the family of Abraham Lincoln.
