SANDRINGHAM WOLFERTON STATION TF 62 NE (downside, NW side) 2/75 Gates, piers & railings to Downside q.v. 2/74 GV II* Gates, piers and railings, c1898, wrought iron, brick with carstone and limestone. Forward opening low gates 3.7m wide in wrought iron with scroll work above top rail, attached panels either side of similar style and dimensions. Panels attached at outer sides to tall brick piers with carstone decoration and stone cap each surmounted by lantern as to gate piers of the Original q.v. 2/82. Forward splays from lantern piers as to right of gateway to the Original q.v. 2/82: that to left having 4 small piers and 4 wrought iron panels, the 4th pier being surmounted by stone ball; that to right with 4 piers and an additional 5 piers returning along former railway line to downside platform, 10 wrought iron panels. Similar walls, piers and wrought iron panels to rear of lantern piers: to left with 17 piers and 17 panels, the 11th pier surmounted by a stone ball; to right with 5 piers and 5 panels attached to angle of Downside q.v. 2/74. The gateway forms the exit from the downside Royal Waiting Rooms. Forms a group with Downside q.v. 2/74.
