House or part of house, now shop. C16 or earlier, altered in C18 and C19. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red plain tiles. One bay facing NW, and half-bay to right. C20 single-storey extension to rear. 2 storeys and unlit attic. Full-width late C19 shopfront with 4 plain pilasters, moulded fascia, C20 windows and half-glazed door. First floor, one tripartite sash of 3-12-3 lights, early C19 or replica. Plain parapet. Above ground floor between bays, chamfered transverse beam with lamb's tongue stops, without mortices for studding below. The post to which it is connected at the rear is unjowled. Rear wallplate chamfered with step stops. Edge-halved and bridled scarf in front wallplate. Studding removed between bays of upper storey. Reported date and initials in plaster at left of upper storey, concealed by furniture at time of survey, June 1987. Most of the frame concealed by internal finishes.
