GV
II
Detached house, formerly a farmhouse. Late C16 with C19 and C20 alterations. Cob,
stone plinth, plastered under 3 gabled-end roofs, all slate, but under roof ridge
lines of varying levels. Originally a 3-room, cross-passage plan house, now so
extensively re-arranged internally that the site of the passage cannot be identified
with certainty: it probably lays to the left of the large front lateral external
stack (with 3 set-offs) the end room or parlour having been demolished; each
component under different roof levels. 2-storeys.
Front: scattered fenestration; all windows with C20 barred casements, 4 to first
floor, 5 to ground. Left-hand door, another to left of lateral stack under lean-to
open porch leading into passage.
Interior: a pointed doorway arch (possibly not in situ), and a plank and muntin
screen to middle room, the latter now placed behind the room, and visible only from
rear. Right-hand room (probably the hall): the front fireplace with stone jambs,
cyma recta mouldings, and replaced lintel; above this room are 2 jointed crucks,
pegged and morticed at apex, and clean.
