Milepost. C19. Cast iron. Stanford and Company, Colchester. Triangular with gabled head reading Parish of Great Bentley, label under with foundry name and town, one side reads, Colchester 7 Great Bentley, the other side reads Thorpe (Le Soken) 5 Great Bentley. One of the few identifiable castings by the Stanford Foundry. J. Booker Batsford Guide to the Industrial Archaeology of East Anglia, 1980.
