Pair of estate cottages, dated 1906, for John Raylor Ramsden; carstone, plain tiles; 4 bays, one storey and attic. Arts and Craft style in reflective symmetry. Carstone rubble with dressed carstone and quoins, bands and surrounds; leaded lights to openings. Bands above ground floor openings continue to returns, projecting keystones above openings. Centre two bays recessed, each with 3-light casement to ground floor and adjacent 3-light roof dormer; cross stone to left and right in brick with raised stepped strips. Outer bays with gables to front sweeping low to centre; ground floor with 3-light casement to outer side, doorway with boarded door towards centre bays; attic gables each with 3-light casement, that to bay 4 with plain glass, stone shield above with date 1906 and monogram JTR.
Included as example of estate cottages in Arts and Craft style using local
materials.
