Details

SOUTH HUISH GALMPTON SX 64 SE 4/89 Amberwood (formerly included as Home Park) II

House. Circa later C17 with C18 additions. Rendered rubble walls which may incorporate some cob. Hipped thatch roof. 2 axial stacks, both brick, one on a rubble base. Plan: originally 2-room plan, the right-hand one heated by a lateral stack; in C18 1-room wing added to the front of it which was later extended further. At the end of the right-hand room an C18 outbuilding was added which was converted in the C20. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical L-shaped front. Main range has C20 2-light casements on the 1st floor and an early C19 12-pane sash below to left. To its right is a C20 leanto porch with plank door. The wing at the right-hand end has C20 2-light casements with a C19 one on 1st floor to the left. Former outbuilding set back from right-hand end. Interior: much altered in C20 but retains some original pegged A-frame trusses.
