SOUTH BENFLEET HIGH ROAD TQ 78 NE (west side) 1/11 Former Pumping Station

- II

Former water pumping station, now Benfleet Christian Fellowship Hall. C19. Red brick, double range grey slate roof, stone parapet verges, impost level band and plinth coping. Moulded brick eaves cornice. Single storey. Central forward gable, round headed doorway with keystone, double doors, glazing bars to fanlight. Right and left iron double windows with glazing bars, each with round heads, red brick arches, stone imposts and stone cills, stone and brick bands and plinths follow through to rear. A stone plaque to gable now covered by creeper. Returns each with 1:1 similar windows and roundels with glazing bars to each gable apex. Rear with 2 similar windows to south and similar door to north, details as for front. Interior. Front and rear walls each with 4 cast iron support columns, 3 central columns, these with octagonal lower stems, circular upper stem and fluted capitals, metal roof trusses, ribbed and boarded ceiling. Moulded dado band. Moulded door and window surrounds. Moulded cornice.
