II
Lodge Cottage to Ketteringham Hall, c.1840, for Sir John Boileau: flint with stone dressings, plain tile roof. Gothick style, T shaped, 1½ storeys; 2 cells deep to right with single cell wing to left having porch in angle. Gable parapets with stone kneelers having sculptured oak leaves with B; single bay range to right with central axial stack of 2 shafts in gault brick with decorative brick cornice. Gable end to front with octagonal stone finial; ground floor with canted bay window having stone roof, 5 stone cusp headed lights with panel tracery and mullions; first floor with similar 2-light opening. Door to left return within gabled porch having 4-centred stone arch with Boileau arms and crest above in stone, figure kneeler, single Gothick light to left return. Single bay wing to left with external gable end stack; ground floor with 2-lights, both to match main front gable. Right return of 2 cell range with central plaque having shield inscribed IPB (John Peter Boileau). Gothick openings of single light to right, 2 lights to left. C20 additions to west.
