Public hall and ten cottages. 1854. Red and gault brick in Flemish bond, roofed with slate. Symmetrical plan, with terrace of four cottages on each side of institute, with a single unit with a semi-octagonal front projecting forwards at each end. Twelve axial stacks. Hall with gabled end to street.

Hall and end units in red brick, remainder in gault brick, in each case with contrasting dressings. Hall of one storey, remainder of two storeys. 1:6:2:6:1 window range of original sashes; end wings have three sashes of six lights on the ground floor, one of 16 lights on the first floor; other cottages have one sash of 12 lights on the ground floor, two on the first floor. Hall has two sashes with semi-circular arches and marginal lights, semi-circular window in gable, and round vent above. Doors various. Nos. 32, 34, 36, 40, 42 and 44 have doorways with rusticated jambs, segmental fanlights and moulded brick pediments. Nos. 30 and 46 have fanlights in semi-circular arches. One half-glazed door at right corner.

The hall front has decorative bands of white brick. The end units have white brick bands and diamond motifs in white brick. The gault brick stacks have each a dentil course below the capping.
