Row of cottages. Mid C19. Cob, stone plinth, rendered, thatched roofs. Set on a sloped with 3 changes in roof ridge level, the row is not of one build but each cottage was added piecemeal on a site on the edge of the Common. 2 storeys throughout. Back stacks to all except nos. 4 & 5 which share an axial stack. Porches to all except no. 2, that to no. 4 thatched, the others glazed or boarded. Casements throughout are C20 with the exception of no. 2 which is the most intact. No. 2 retains its wide doorway, and to the right of this a late C18 3-light leaded timber casement, with 8 panes to each light. One 1st floor 2-light window with original timber frame; a single-light C20 window marks the stair. Ground-floor, right-hand room with rear fireplace, wooden lintel, stone jambs and back; Staircase retains many of the original risers, tread and part of string. Wide upper storey floorboards, the 2 upstairs rooms divided by a post and lathe and plaster partition. Roof structure mid C19 with collars. No. 2 only inspected internally.
