Farmbuilding including a threshing barn and cartshed with reed-store over. Probably mid/late C19. Red sandstone rubble, brought to course, grouted slate roof, hipped at north end, gabled at east end, corrugated roof to reed-store. Plan: Large L plan farmbuilding in the south-west corner of the farmyard south of Higher Farm Farmhouse, the west range parallel to the Stoke Road with a cartshed with reed-store over adjoining at the south end. The north-facing range, within the farmyard, has a threshing floor with first floor access from the rear (south), originally powered by a traction engine. Exterior: Lofted. Inpressively tall. The threshing barn has large paired plank doors to the threshing loft with stone cheeks that descend to the ground and a slated canopy: smaller doors to left and right. Similar large doors on the south side with stone cheeks and a porch canopy. The west range has a pentice roof on the east side (facing into the farmyard) a central loft door and a ground floor doorway below; 2 windows to the right return (north end). The rear elevation (facing the road) has a loft door and 1 small and 1 large ground floor doorway, both with iron lintels. The cartshed has been adapted to take grain bins retaining the open fronted reed loft which faces the Stoke Road. Interior: Not inspected but threshing machine said to survive (information from owner). Group value with the farmhouse.
