- II

Barn. C18. Timber framed, weatherboarded, on base walls of red brick in Flemish bond, roofed with corrugated asbestos. 5 bays aligned NE-SW, with midstrey to SE. Open lean-to shelter in S angle, roofed with black glazed and red unglazed pantiles. Red brick lean-to byre in E angle, with slate roof. The NW elevation has sliding doors replacing the original great doors, and to each side of it pitching doors above and below the girt. The midstrey has the original halved doors for winnowing, which are never wide enough for vehicular access, well above outside ground level. The lean-to byre has a blocked doorway and 2 arched apertures for drains or dung passages. Pegged main frame. Primary straight bracing. Bolted braces to tiebeams. Clasped purlin roof. This barn is in exceptionally good structural condition, and retains an unusual number of original features. Bentall's Farmhouse is not listed.
