House. Circa 1600, altered in C19 and C20. Timber framed, with exposed framing at front, plastered elsewhere, roofed with handmade red plain tiles. The main range facing S comprises 2 bays, of which one was originally a high wagon-way through, with a room over, now blocked. Axial stack at left side of right bay, forming a lobby-entrance. One-bay wing to rear of right bay. 2 storeys. 2-window range of early C19 sashes of 16 lights. Early C19 6-panel door, the lower panels flush, in simple doorcase with shallow flat hood; one stone step. The head of the wagon-way forms the sill of the left first-floor window. The head and both jambs are ovolo-moulded, with short arched braces across the top corners; it is blocked with nailed studs. Below eaves of right bay 2 original small flank windows each with one ovolo mullion, blocked. The room occupying the wagon-way has a boxed axial beam and C20 hearth. In the room above, studding with trenched curved braces is visible through wallpaper on both sides; blocked hearth. The right ground-floor room has a chamfered axial beam, unstopped; joists plastered to the soffits. The room above has a chamfered axial beam with lamb's tongue stops, and a blocked hearth. Rear wallplate chamfered with lamb's tongue stops; girt below severed for stair. Jowled posts. Clasped purlin roof in rear wing. Roof of main range rebuilt. Part of RCHM 91.
