Moor End Cottage
II
Cottage. C18. Cob with some rubble, some rough plaster, colourwashed, half-hipped
straw-thatched roof; tall brick shaft, probably C19, to a rear lateral stack.
Plan: 2-room plan with a larger kitchen to left heated by a rear lateral fireplace
with an oven, unheated smaller room to the right, direct entry to kitchen at the
front.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Irregular fenestration, 2- and 3-light C19 casements to front
with single horizontal glazing bars. End elevation facing onto roadside with
inserted mid C20 window on each floor with glazing bars, large late C20 porch with
flat roof to left of front. C20 brick lean-to to outshut at the rear.
Interior: not seen.
Probably an example of a squatters dwelling on unclaimed wasteland.
