Details
LANDCROSS SS42SE 7/118 Barton Cottage and 20.2/58 Hill View (formerly listed as Hill View, Barton Cottage) GV. II House. Late C16/early C17; made into 3 cottages in C18; now two dwellings. Colourwashed render over coursed slatestone rubble; gabled thatch roof; rendered left end stack; rendered front lateral stack to right of front door. 3-unit plan, with blocked through-passage to left of central hall. 2 storeys; 3-window range. C20 outshut with C20 door to centre. Flat rendered arches over C20 casements and C20 window set in blocked doorway in left bay. C20 door and porch (to Barton Cottage) in right gable wall. Early C19 two-storey wing to rear right, of similar materials with cob under eaves; C20 outshut to rear left. Interior: stop-chamfered beams on ground floor. Room to left has stop-chamfered bressummer over fireplace, with late C18 brick jambs and cloam oven: fireplace is flanked by stop-chamfered bridging beams. Central room has flat stone arch over open fireplace with cloam oven. The C19 staircase, to left of the central room, is situated in the former through-passage of the C17 house. C17 four-bay A-frame roof with notched apexes and butt purlins; truss to right has curved feet.
