14/44 Dovecote at south west end of Dove Cottage
II
Dovecote with rooms below. Mid-late C19, probably for S.S. Marling. Coursed rubble limestone; ashlar dressings; stone slate roof. Three-storey square tower attached to end of house. House is not of special interest. Upper floor has 2 projecting bands, becoming perches on south east side only with square pigeon holes. C20 small-paned metal casement to front with hoodmould. Lowest storey is built into bank with round-arched doorway to rear. Boldly sprocketed hipped roof with exposed rafter ends and moulded timber eaves; large ball finial. Picturesque position on hillside road.
