Bethesda Chapel
II
Chapel, now Arts Centre. Dated 1811. Squared and coursed limestone, moulded eaves
cornice, hipped Welsh slate roof. Single cell structure with hexagonal south end;
single storey hipped cross-wing attached at north end, stone slate roof. Two storeys,
2-windowed flanks and one window to each facet of half-hexagon; all segmental-headed
sashes with very slender glazing bars in plat-band with keystone. Central door in
hexagon, pair of 3-panel fielded under segmental-headed 3-pane transom light. Over
doors inscription panel on square corbel blocks, lettered in fine C19 serifs 'BETHESDA
MDCCCXI'.
Interior much modified, but fine king-post roof, including radial half-trusses to
hexagon, and triple purlin, exposed to view: formerly carried plaster ceiling.
