WITHERIDGE FORE STREET (north side), SS 81 SW Witheridge 9/78 No. 7 (Country Flavour) 20.2.67 and attached house to right No. 9 GV II 2 houses, one with shop. Early C17, altered C18 when No.9 added. Roughcast and colourwashed probably on a rubble core, straw-thatched roof hipped to the right. Plan and development: No.7 of 2 rooms and central-passage, each room heated by a geble end fireplace. Right room the larger of the 2. No.9 a single room depth addition. Room to left of the ground floor of No.7 converted in the C19 to a shop, at this time the through-passage blocked off. Exterior: 2 storeys, asymmetrical 3:2 windows on the first floor; to left of first floor two 2-light C19 casements with glazing bars, centre window blank, 2 C19 12- pane sash windows on the ground floor. Right windows witn C20 2-light casements. 2 door openings, to right recessed 6-panelled door, top 4-panels glazed, small C19 fretwork gabled hood. Door opening to the left with a recessed C19 half-glazed door, adjacent to its right a 3-pane shop-front, C19 with pilasters and cornice, ornamental iron cresting. Interior: left room on ground floor. No.7 with fireplace with a small opening, cambered wooden bressumer, chamfered with bar stops, rubble jambs. 2 early C18 panelled doors to first floor. Roof: probably renewed C18, straight principals exposed in the first floor rooms of No.7.
