3/33 7-10-81 The Orchard - II

House, C16 with probably C17 rear wing. Rubble walls with gabled, thatched roof to main range and half-hipped, tiled roof to rear wing. Stone stack to left gable and part along ridge, brick stack from right eaves. Originally an end hall plan with 2 bay hall separated from 2 room service block by through passage. 2 storeys, approximately 4 window range. C20 casements with leaded-lights under wooden lintels. Porch with sloping roof. Internal features: plank and muntin partitions, end newel stair, original doorways. RCHM, Dorset, vol III, p 16, no 13. Manuscript notes by P M Cunnington, 1978.
