Farmhouse, now two houses. C16 and C17. Squared and coursed limestone,
some rubble, stone slate roofs. A long building with overall L-plan formed
from three distinct but contiguous units of building. Return wing, furthest
from road, two storeys 2-windowed, coped gables, one single ashlar stack
to east gable; at first floor one 3-light andone2 light very small chamfered
mullion casements with chamfers stopped square at heads, but with stopped
drips; at ground floor replacement 3-light casement, pair of C20 french
doors and 2-light casement under lean-to roof; in the west gable, left,
one 3-light chamfered mullion casement under stepped drip, over two late
C20 casements. This part of the building connected to remainder only by
short section of stone wall. Middle section is two-gabled with saddle
stones, with simple stone stacks to main gables, 1½ storeys, 2-light cham-
fered and square stopped mullion casements in gables, over two 2-light
similar, one small 2-light replacing former door opening, and 3-light, with
transome; also above former door is 3-light fixed wood casement. This part
has large, roughly squared limestone blocks at ground floor. Third unit,
at road end, coped gables, with saddle and small ball finial to outer gable,
and stone stack left; also projecting stair turret at back with coped gable,
and large external stack reducing to small square section in upper 5 metres.
Two storeys and attic, 2-windowed grouped left, at first floor 2 and 3-light
chamfered mullion casements without drips, over 3-light C19 wood casement
under stopped drip, and pair of early C20 glazed doors, up 3 steps and
set back : the doors under a stopped drip to what was previously a window.
The gable facing road has 3-light casements at second floor chamfered
mullions and stopped drip, first floor same without drip and ground floor
C19 wood but under stopped drip. The stair turret has 2-light chamfered
mullion casements, with drip at first floor and without at ground floor.
Centre section includes two C19 gabled dormers, and 2-light chamfered
mullion casement. Various outbuildings to this, east side of the building.
Interior has been considerably modified but includes one full width deep
fireplace with new bressummer in central section, and at first floor an
oak winding stair probably C17.
