4/55 Pair of undentified headstones immediately to north east of Fowles memorial in churchyard of Church of St. Nicholas

GV II

Pair of adjacent headstones. Early/mid C18. Limestone. Elaborately carved surrounds but inscriptions completely obliterated and panels badly eroded. On left, paired cherub heads surrounded by pair of wings and garlands. On right, 2 separate large cherub heads each with pair of wings and with carving at side of moulded edge rectangular panel with semi-circular projection at top. Behind headstones (to east) are a pair of tombstones, presumably marking actual graves, with some indecipherable lettering visible on that to the right.
