6/58 The Stables, 5:3:82 (formerly listed as Stable block north of the Hall)

Stables. Some now converted to dwellings. Late C18. Probably by Samuel and William Wyatt. Gault brick. Slate roofs. Square plan with corner pavilions and archways to the centre of the east and west ranges. Semi-circular brick arches flanked by twin Tuscan columns supporting plain pediment (pediment to east range rebuilt). Recesses in wall to either side with semi-circular heads. End pavilions of 2 storeys with C20 part-glazed doors and C20 sash windows with glazing bars. First floor lunette with glazing bars. Courtyard elevation of archway has rusticated brick pilasters supporting plain pediment. Openings of east and west ranges to courtyard under segmental arches, some now doors to dwellings. One stable with fittings to north of east arch. Openings of north and south ranges under 2 orders of large segmental arches some now used as garages, some blocked with C20 sash windows inserted. Also to north range 2 small segmental arched openings now with C20 doors. Iron gate in west arch with scooped head. Mounting block in west archway.
