TG 00 SW DEOPHAM VICARAGE ROAD (north side) 5/23 Crown Farmhouse II*

Farmhouse. C16. Brick (partially colour-washed) and timber-frame with plain-tiled roofs. T plan. 2 storeys with attic and 3 bays. Returned brick gable-ends and ground floor with jettied timber-framed upper floor. C19 central front door with a 3-light mullioned and transomed window to either side. 3 casements above with horizontal glazing bars. Elaborate moulded brick corbelling supports jettied return of gable-end to south. Equivalent feature to north rebuilt in stepped form. Steep-pitched roof with gable- end stacks: to South 4 octagonal chimneys. Moulded brick kneelers formed bases to former finials. Part of timber-free exposed to rear revealing a 3-light chamfered mullion window and a wavy tension brace. Also at rear a moulded-brick rectangular hood-mould above a blocked door. Small rear extension with jettied first floor and gable. Original side jetties obscured by later lean-to's, Bressumers carved with a lozenge pattern and arched brackets of gable jetty supported by carved responds with gothic capitals on angle studs. Single bay of C19 casements with horizontal glazing bars.
