- II
Farmhouse. c1600, with mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations. Timber-framed with brick infill, replacement walling and refacing; plain tiled roofs. Hall and cross-wing plan; hall part of three framed bays aligned north- east/south-west; large chimney with brick ridge stack between south-west and central bay; probable original through-passage retained in north-east bay; service cross-wing of two framed bays situated at north-east gable end with external brick chimney at its north-west gable end. Part two storeys, attic and cellar, part single storey and attic. Framing: north-west side of hall part is jettied at first floor level on console brackets and has two rows of square panels above and below jetty; south-west gable end is also jettied and supported on three brick pilasters. The framing above and below the jetty has been partly replaced; collar and tie-beam trusses, mainly replaced at south-west gable end, strut to truss apex visible at north-east gable end; cross-wing has three panels from sill to wall-plate and collar and tie-beam truss with some struts visible at north-west gable end. North-west front elevation: hall part has a 2-light casement and three rectangular lights on the ground floor, a small rectangular light on the first floor and a ledged and battened door adjacent to the cross-wing; cross-wing has external gable end chimney and a 2-light ground floor case- ment in the angle with the hall part. Attic light at south-west gable end. Interior: back-to-back fireplaces in hall, one of which is blocked. Main entrance in C20 single-storey extension to north-east side of cross-wing.
