CHIPPERFIELD TOWER HILL TL 00 SW (East side) 6/92 South-east Barn - at Frenches Farm
GV- II
Barn, now part of house adjoining. Early C17, north part late C17, converted c.1973. Timber frame dark weatherboarded with steep old red tile roofs. A 5-bays unaisled barn facing E with projecting gabled E porch in middle, gabled double doors opposite on W, and C18 and C19 lean-to extensions along E and S sides. Older 3 bays at S have jowled posts, straight braces to cambered tie-beams, angled queen-posts and one clasped purlin to each slope. 2 later bays at N has unjowled posts with straight braces and squint-butted scarf joint in wallplate. Inclined queen-post roof with one clasped purlin in each slope and added collars in trusses.
