School. Dated 1826 with mid-C20 alterations. Brick, hipped plain tiled roof, brick end stacks with tiled offsets. Two storeys on brick plinth; three bays with clasping pilasters and central gabled bay which projects slightly and has a full-height, round-headed arched recess flush with wall- face and flanked by pilasters; all windows have cambered heads and moulded architraves; ground floor has 16-pane sashes and first floor has 12-pane sashes; central entrance has a lean-to brick porch with clasping, moulded buttresses, a doorway with cambered head, dropped keyblock and 4-panelled door, rectangular lights in each side elevation; in the gable above set in an arched niche is a datestone, shaped like a sarcophagus on which is inscribed: "AD 1729/ CHARITY SCHOOL HOUSE/ FOUNDED BY RICHARD LLOYD/ OF COMHAMPTON IN/ THIS PARISH/ YEOMAN/ REBUILT 1826". There is also a Sun Assusrance fire insurance mark in the gable apex. Interior not inspected. Single storey rear additions. This school, and the former schoolhouse in Ombersley Village (qv) were both founded under the name of Richard Lloyd's Charity, Richard Lloyd having assigned money and lands in his will to establish an Educational Trust to educate the children of the parish whose parents were assessed at less than £5 per annum.
