GV II
House, now divided into two dwellings. Early C17 with mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations and additions. Timber-framed, painted brick infill, sandstone rubble base, brick replacement walling, plain tiled roofs, group of three star-shaped brick stacks with combined cap to main ridge and external brick stack with offsets at west gable end. Hall and cross-wing plan; hall part of three framed bays with chimney in east end bay forming lobby-entry and cross-wing of two framed bays at east gable end; single storey, attic with dormers and cellar. Framing: main part has rear wall- frame of three square panels from sill to wall-plate with short straight upper braces, collar-and-tie-beam truss with queen struts and V-strut in apex at left gable end; cross-wing of four square panels from sill to wall-plate, upper four central panels of front and right side elevations form a decorative cross-shape; tie-beam truss in gable ends with two collars, queen struts and V-strut in apex. Front elevation: main part has two ground floor 2-light C20 casements with cambered heads, two gabled dormers with 2- light casements and a multi-paned C20 door at the right end; cross-wing has a ground floor 3-light casement with plank weathering and a moulded console beneath, so probably originally an oriel window. Interior: main beams of cross-wing have stepped ogee-stopped chamfers; back-to-back sandstone inglenook fireplaces; arched doorhead retained in first floor cross-frame of cross-wing. C20 single and two-storey rear extension.
