HIGH AND LOW BISHOPSIDE FELLBECK SE 26 NW 14/46 Fellbeck Old Hall and attached barn

GV II

House with attached barn. Dated 1685 with earlier origins and restoration c1985. Coursed squared stone, ashlar with graduated stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 3-bays, plus single-bay barn to right. Cross passage plan. Between bays 2 and 3 a board door set in plain chamfered, quoined surround with a 4-centred arch lintel, inscribed "1685". It is flanked by 5-light double-chamfered mullioned windows,that to right C20. To left-hand bay a 6- light double-chamfered mullioned window with a central major mullion. Line of mutilated continuous hoodmould over door and 2 left windows. Right-hand bay (barn) has a C19 casement in plain stone surround, to left a board door in quoined surround. First floor: 4-light double-chamfered mullioned windows except that to left which is of 5-lights, all C20. Shaped kneeler and stone coping to left. End stack to left and 2 ridge stacks, all have plinth and cornice. Interior: 2 large cruck trusses to centre of the building, 2 stone fireplaces and stone staircase of the late C17.
