RIPLEY MAIN STREET SE 2860-2960 (west side)

8/77 Glebe House (formerly listed as 15.3.66 Rectory listed as)

GV II

House. Mid-late C18, restored c1980. Coursed squared gritstone and ashlar, grey slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays with added 2-bay rear wing. Quoins. Central 6-panel door in flush wood architrave; flanking 16-pane sashes in flush wood architraves with quoined jambs and large lintels. Square first- floor uneven-hung 12-pane sashes in similar surrounds. Shaped kneelers, gable copings, corniced end stacks. Together with Dacre and Oak House and Chantry House this is one of the older house in the village and it is likely that it represents a rebuilding begun while the Castle rebuilding was in progress for Sir John Ingilby.
