2 adjacent houses, now 2 houses and a shop. C17 or earlier, C18 brick front, C19 stucco fronts and shopfront to Nos. 119 and 121, and later rear extension. No. 117 was The Star and Garter public house up to c.1970, and No. 119 was The Old Red Lion public house before 1914 (Coote (1977)24). Timber frame, exposed in N end with renewed fancy brick infill, chequered red and grey brick front, stucco plinth, painted stucco facing to Nos. 119 and 121. Steep old red tile roofs. A long 2-storeys block on street front facing W and with S end on corner with Hicks Road. The W front has 2 1st floor windows to each of the 3 parts, No. 117 has end chimneys and a 2-storeys rear wing at NE. The N gable framing shows it originally was jettied to front and has jowled posts, cambered tie beam, clasped-purlin roof on collar with vertical struts and a 4 inches deep brick front in Flemish-bond. The front has 2 2-light Yorkshire sliding casement windows under the eaves, a diamond pattern of red header bricks in middle, applied vermiculated rustication as lintels with raised keystones over lower windows, a flush box sash window with 8/8 panes to LH, and a triple sash with small panes to RH of the 4 panels moulded door in moulded doorcase with corner blocks, paterae, and moulded cornice. No. 119 has 2 transomed casement windows with shutters, and a recessed 3-light window to S of lobby entrance by chimney. No. 121 has 2 sash windows with 3/6 panes over a neat pilastered shop front with canted corner entrance. S gable has a flush box sash window with 6/6 panes under a cusped bargeboard and over a return of the shopfront. Picturesque corner building at beginning of older part of High Street.
