10/62 Footbridge, about half a mile North of Crowcombe Court

GV II
Footbridge. 1776. Squared and coursed red sandstone, bands of unknapped flint. Single span pointed arch flanked by semi-circular headed niches, parapet gabled in centre and ramped back from abutments. Bands of undressed flint below parapet, similar pilaster strips flanking arch, surrounds to arch and architrave to niches, shallow saddleback coping. Restored at East end, largely overgrown with ivy at time of survey (August 1983). (Photograph in NMR, VCH Somerset Vol.5, forthcoming; Country Life, April 22 1933).
