SELBORNE BLACKMOOR SU 73 SE 6/10 Churchyard boundary wall, with Lychgate and Service Building
II
Wall, lychgate and building. c 1870, by Waterhouse. The rectangular churchyard is surrounded by a plain malmstone wall, having Bath stone dressings; weathered top, higher cap and flanking buttresses at changes of levels and at corners and rear openings. A pedestrian gateway has plain piers with buttresses and a simple Gothic ornament to the steeply-weathered tops. Integral with the wall on its north side is a small rectangular shed, of similar materials, with 3 plain chamfered door openings, and a tile roof (corrugated iron on the north slope). The main entrance through the wall is a lychgate, of rich Gothic style, with a tile roof, timber frame of 2 bays, and a stone base wall.
