7/31 Moat Farmhouse -
- II
Farmhouse. Probably late C16 or C17 with later additions and alterations. Painted brick and uncoursed rubble partly replacing and partly concealing timber frame; slate and concrete tile roof. L-plan with lower C19 rubblestone addition to north-west and brick lean-tos against south-west side. 2 storeys and gable-lit attic. Framing: part exposed to back wall of north-east range, fragmentary rectangular panels with herringbone struts. Late C19 fenestration, mainly cast-iron casements, 2 below eaves and one to left of door to north-east range, ground-floor openings all with segmental heads and similar blocked openings on left of south-east range and to gable end of north-east range; 4-panel door has rectangular barred overlight. Prominent reddish brown brick axial ridge stack to north- east range near junction with south-east range and external brick end stack to south-east range. Interior: not inspected but likely to be of interest. There are traces of a partly infilled moat to north-east and south-east.
