BARLEY SMITH END TL 3938 & TL 33 NE (Northeast side) 3/120 & 7/120 The Hoops

House. Early to mid C18, refronted early C19, altered c.1950. Red brick and timber frame, refronted in white brick. All rendered. Tiled roof. An L on plan, 3 bays to each wing. 2 storeys. C19 brick front: plinth, ground floor central C20 gabled pantiled entrance porch, half glazed door, flanking canted bay windows with 8 light mullion and transom casements, first floor cross casements with flush frames over outer bays. Red brick left gable end stack, slightly extruded. Roof hipped to right to red brick fronted rear wing with a lobby entrance, central recessed door with a segmental head, single, 2 light and cross casements in shallow reveals. Central ridge stack. 1 bay 1 storey outshut attached to rear gable end. Rendered timber frame to rear, mixed fenestration, a C20 lean-to outshut. Interior: early C19 dogleg staircase with slat balusters, moulded ramped handrail. Some exposed framing in rear wing, jowled posts, tension braces. Formerly the Hoops Public House.
