6/398 The Grove
GV II
Large farmhouse, now offices. Built 1712 for Thomas Seare. Later C18 extension on right, early C19 alterations on left. Red brick. Vitrified red brick panels to centre block, the upper floor with T-1-7-1-2-S red brick inscription between windows. 2 storeys and attics. Plain tile roof with large early C18 ridge stack on left gable end of centre block. 8 flush sash windows. Floor band. Parapet to centre and left sides. Blocked central door. Left side has an early C19 panelled door with a large pedimental hood on cut brackets. The two central ground floor windows and the central 1st floor window have patterned soffits to the gauged brick lintels. Right side is chequered red brick with C19/20 twin sashes. Rear elevation has large C19 conservatory projection with Gothic-style glazing-bar casements. 3-window S elevation is partly early C18 (RCHM Typescript).
