5/71 Boundary marker stone at NGR ST 6972 3403

Boundary marker stone. C18. Doulting stone slab, about 350 mm wide and 100 mm thick, with segmental top in all about 600 mm high; incised with words: "Here ends Discove Road". Believed to pre-date the Bruton Turnpike Trust which took over this road in 1756, and to define the limit of responsibility of Discove hamlet for road maintenance - a very rare survival.
