Details

RUSHDEN CHURCH END TL 3031 (East side) Rushden 10/14 Church End Cottage GV II House. Probably C16, extended, floored and heated in C17, extended C19. Timber frame, weatherboarded. Thatched roof. Probably a 2 bay open hall originally with 1 bay added to right in C17 and 1 bay added to left in C19. 1 storey and attics. Early bays have C20 2 light flush frame timber casements, leaded lights. Rendered plinth. Early 2 and 3 light leaded casements in eyebrow thatched dormers with tiles below sills. Entrance to right in projecting gabled porch as lobby entry to axial ridge stack, rebuilt in C19. Right bay has a 3 light casement, slightly taller ridge and shallower pitch. Left bay is also slightly taller with a much shallower pitch. Left gable end has leaded light horizontal sliding sashes. Right gable end has a ground floor entrance, 2 light casement in attic. Catslide roof over roughcast lean-to rear outshut from C17 bay with a dormer to rear.
