2. Large, early and mid C19 country house, formerly The Grange. Modern rendering and painted stucco, some yellow stock brick, slate roof. L-plan with square former stable block to north. Two storeys. South-west elevation. Shallow 2-storey, 3 window bows on south-east and north-west, architraves and consoles to sash windows, 2 bracketted gables. South-west interior (Grange Court), ground floor. Early C19 Adam style ceiling and doorcases. South-east interior (Clare Court), ground floor. Similar style ceiling and fireplace on east; mid C19 Tudor style panelling and ceiling on west. South-east exterior (Rye Court). Banded ground floor rustication, gable end with bracketted eaves, sash windows. Plain north-east entrance facade with square porch. Interior. Good mid C19 well staircase lit by rectangular skylight with art nouveau stained glass. Early C19 Adam style ceiling and fireplace in rear ground floor. Elaborate mid C19 ceiling in south-east room.
