TL 23 NW NEWNHAM ASHWELL ROAD (North west side) 3/127 Old Thatch - GV II
House, mid to late C17. Altered and restored. Timber frame, plastered. Main stack of red brick, subsidiary stack yellow brick. Steeply pitched thatch roof with pantiles on outshuts. 3 cell lobby entry plan with later extensions to left and right. Timber door with small margin light to right. One 3 light timber glazing bar casement to left and 2 similar windows to right, one with 2 lights, all with timber sills and lintels. Single separately thatched gabled dormer with 2 light casement over central window. Casements to road fronts of extensions and in both gables. Main axial ridge stack with oversailing courses. Smaller subsidiary external stack on right gable end wall. Exposed tie beam and half hip to left. Staircase immediately to right of entrance in front of stack. Interior not inspected.
