19/76 Former toll house 11.11.81 approx. 16 metres to west of Acacia House (formerly listed as Former Turnpike Trust Toll House)
GV II
Toll house, now disused. Circa 1768. Painted coursed sandstone rubble with red brick dressings; slate roof, removed from front and graded at rear. Gothick style. 2 storeys. Toothed brick eaves cornice; external stone end stack to right with later brick top. 2-window front; first-floor round-arched 2-light wooden casements with Y-tracery flanking central blind round-arched panel and ground-floor ogee-headed windows with pairs of boarded shutters; central half-glazed door. Left-hand corner of front is chamfered. Interior not inspected but said to contain late C18 cast iron fireplace with Adamesque decoration. The Minsterley - Worthen road was turnpiked in 1768.
