CLUNBURY C.P. WALCOT AVENUE SO 38 sE 4/102 No. 4 with attached - wall, gate pier and gate GV II

Entrance lodge, attached wall, gate pier and gate. Lodge: early C19 with minor later alterations. Uncoursed limestone rubble; shallow pyramidal slate roof has central red brick stack with dentilled capping. Square plan. 2 storeys. 2 windows. C19 multi-paned cast-iron casements, lower left mullioned and transomed with segmental head and lower right blind, to left and right of central plain pilastered timber porch over contemporary boarded door. Right wall has identical fenestration pattern, except ground-floor windows and upper left are blind. Left wall has 2 windows on each floor flanking blind or infilled segmental- headed doorway. Attached wall: possibly a little later. Roughly coursed limestone rubble with ashlar coping ramped up to gate pier: regularly coursed limestone rubble with ashlar capping, surmounted by ball finial. C19 painted wrought-iron gate. Q.v. under No. 3, Walcot Avenue.
