12/30 Red House -
- II
Farmhouse, now house. Late C17 with early C19 malthouse attached to left; later additions and alterations. Red brick (English bond) with chamfered red sandstone block plinth and stone angle quoins to house; red sandstone blocks to former malthouse. Slate roof throughout with coped verges on carved stone kneelers to former malthouse. 2 storeys and former gable-lit attic with moulded stone string course to first floor and short string courses above first-floor and attic windows to right gable end. C20 casements throughout, 2 on each floor to house with segmental heads and 2 on first floor to former malthouse.Segmental-headed windows an each floor to right gable end, that to attic infilled; infilled opening also to left gable end on first floor. Entrance through C20 double doors immediately to left of C20 flat-roofed addition to far left of house. Roughly central integral lateral stack to back wall and C20 brown brick ridge stack to centre of former malthouse. Interior. Inspection not possible at time of resurvey (October 1986) but likely to be of interest. Small C20 addition is not of special architectural interest.
