Details
SANDON ROE GREEN TL 33 SW (Southwest side) 7/85 Roe Green Farm House GV II House. C17 or earlier. Extended and part rebuilt mid to late C19. Timber frame, extended and cased in brick, roughcast and colourwashed. Tiled and slate roofs. Original L-shaped building is to rear, C19 front range at right angles may be a rebuilding of an earlier wing. 2 storeys. Symmetrical mid C19 3 bay front to road: projecting central bay under a raking continuation of main roof slope. Ground floor central 2 light casement, outer sashes, all recessed with cambered heads. Plat band between storeys, stepped up to centre. First floor 8:4 pane sashes, that to left a dummy, cambered heads on outer bays. Cross axial stacks flank central bay on front slope. Steeper pitch to rear slope on gable ends, projecting bay windows on ground floor, that to left canted. Rear elevation of right bay is roughcast. Separate slate roofed C19 gabled block added to rear of left bay. Early wing projects to rear. Left return elevation is brick fronted with 2 bays visible, an entrance to right with a tiled hood, small casement above, 3 light casements to left. Roughcast right return elevation has an entrance, 2 light casements and a sash. Rear gable end is roughcast above weatherboarded ground floor, 1 and 2 light casements. A lower early bay projects to right from rear bay of main early range. A large red brick stack with offsets is external to main range and cross axial on lower wing. In inner angle towards front of lower wing a catslide roof over a lean-to outshut.
