Base of Wayside Cross. Probably C14. Ham stone. Two C20 circular stone steps of 2 metres and 1.5 metres diameter, both
300mm high, replacing four earlier steps; fragment of a circular top step survives, about 1 metre diameter and 175mm
high, above is the socket, about 700mm square by 250mm high, the corners deeply broached: only about 300mm of shaft
survives, the remainder destroyed 'by some people in a drunken frolic' some time before 1877 (Pooley, Old Crosses of
Somerset, 1877).
