1/22 Bayfordbury Park - Farmhouse

GV II

Manor house, now a farmhouse. C16, relegated to farmhouse c.1762 when Bayfordbury built to S. Alterations, brick front and E wing late C19. Timber frame front cased in red brick in Flemish-bond now painted, NW wing roughcast. Steep old red tile roofs with bellcast and wide painted eaves soffit. 2 storeys and cellar, 3-cells, internal-chimney plan house at rear of farmstead, facing S, with chimney a third from W end, rear wing at NW, former E gable chimney now enclosed in 1½-storeys C19 crosswing. S front has 6 lst-floor windows: 5 mullioned, 3-lights, stucco windows and 2-lights window to crosswing. Gabled porch with chamfered 4-centred arched entrance next crosswing with a ¾ glazed door. Canted bay window each side of porch and small cast-iron framed windows elsewhere to front. NW rear wing has N gable chimney and exposed jowled corner-post. Interior of older part has sloping floor and wide boards on 1st floor. 2-panel doors with H-hinges. On ground floor ceiling cornices and plank doors with old iron strap hinges.
