GV II
Farmhouse, now dwelling. C17, refenestrated, roof raised, parallel range added C17 rear in early C19, altered late C20 Rendered over cob, double span slate roof, overhanging eaves, decorative bargeboards, brick stacks gable ends, double pair left gable end and right of original cross passage. Plan: 3 cell and cross passage altered internally, L-plan stable block abutting left, attached farmbuildings at rear abutting Steading Hay (qv). Two storeys, 4 bays; first floor 12-pane sash windows, ground floor long casements of 4 vertical-lights with marginal glazing bars flanking entrance, inserted C20 window end bay right, entrance panelled double door, fanlight with glazing bars, fronted by 8 and a half bay wooden trelliswork verandah with wrought iron spandrels and cast iron decorative plaques, patterned slate roof with central bays glazed. Stable wing to left, painted brick, slate roof, 1:2 bays, pointed arch dormer with divided tracery, similar loft opening below, double doors ground floor, similar fenestration at first floor in re-entrant angle. Interior extensively altered: lateral chamfered beam with scroll stop remains left, very small chamfered lintel to fireplace opening on left gable end, inconclusive evidence regarding identification of the recess on external wall as remains of curing chamber, 2 smoke blackened collar and principal roof trusses survive in roof space, some painted plaster removed from the demolished cross passage screen has been preserved in an outbuilding.
