6/14 West Barn and adjoining North 24.1.67 Barn at Nether Hall 20 metres W of house

2 barns adjoining. C16 and C17. Timberframed weatherboarded on flint & brick base. Thatched roofs. The older and taller West Barn stands on the W side of the yard with its gable to the road and a gabled tiled porch off-centre on its W side. The steep thatched roof was originally hipped but the S end has been altered to a gable - the hip rafters survive inside and the collars are lap-jointed (RCHM Typescript). 2 windows above one another in gable: 2-light over a 3-light window each with 4 panes with radiused corners. Flint walled lean-to attached at SE corner. North Barn adjoins NE corner. A 3-bay lower weatherboarded structure with a rear outshot and steep thatched gabled roof, facing S. Central double doors. 2 historic timberframed thatched barns. Part of a picturesque group with Nether Hall in this part of the Conservation Area.
