Details
THERFIELD WELL HEAD TL 3337 (South side) Therfield 9/130 Greenside Cottage 27.5.68 GV II House, at one time 2 dwellings. Mid to late C16. Timber frame on brick base, rendered and weatherboarded. Thatched roof. Double ended hall house. 3 bay lobby entry hall range. 1 storey and attic. 2 storey cross wings. Entrance to right of centre with a single light casement immediately to left. Outer hall bays have ground floor 3 light small pane flush frame casements and 2 light dormers with weatherboarded gables in attic. Original cross axial red brick ridge stack with 3 octagonal shafts. Each cross wing has 3 light casements on ground floor, 2 light casements in weatherboarded first floors, jettied with curved brackets, cusped bargeboards. Second entrance to left. Right end weatherboarded with an external C19 stack. Left end: ground floor 3 light casement, first floor weatherboarded with a horizontal sliding sash. Wing to left projects further to rear with a hipped roof over weatherboarded ground floor, first floor horizontal sliding sash. Casements and dormers in hall range to rear. Right wing has a catslide roof over a projecting lean-to to rear with an entrance. (RCHM 1910).
