5/36 Barn approx. 10 - metres to north of Lower Farmhouse

GV II

Barn, now cow house and store. Mid-C17 with probably early to mid- C19 additions. Weatherboarded and corrugated-iron clad timber frame on uncoursed sandstone rubble plinth; uncoursed sandstone rubble end wall to north and roughly dressed red sandstone addition to south; plain tile roof. Barn of 3 framed bays aligned approximately north- south, with additions at each end. Framing: square panels, 3 from sole plate to wall plate. High chamfered plinth to south. Central large boarded double doors, small opening high up to right, and small 2-light window to left. Door on left-hand addition. Right-hand gable end with 2-light segmental-headed loft window and pair of ground- floor segmental-headed boarded doors. Interior: tie-beam trusses with queen struts; collar and tie-beam former end trusses with queen struts and v-struts, that to south with C18 brick nogging; pairs of staggered purlins with one tier of wind braces; extra bay to north is former cartshed with former open front-closed off.
